Where to stay in Aberdeen

When you’ve got a flight to catch, you don’t want to find yourself miles and miles away from the airport. Save yourself some hassle and trust us to provide the best hotels near Aberdeen airport.

The ibis Aberdeen Centre – Quayside is located just by Regent Quay. You’ll be in amongst all the hustle and bustle for an evening of enjoyment, but just a 30-minute train ride or 20-minute drive from the airport. The best of both worlds.

What to do during your stay? We have you covered for that too.

Explore the Old Towns

Aberdeen has not one, but two old towns. The first is Old Aberdeen, home to a beautiful 15th century cathedral, ancient gothic bridges, fairytale-style gates and botanic gardens.

The other old town in Aberdeen is Footdee (pronounced ‘Fittie’ locally). A tiny historic fishing village, it’s known for its cobbled streets and wonderful higgledy-piggledy cottages.

Sample the local delicacies
You simply can’t visit this Scottish port town without sampling the local delicacies: seafood and, of course, Aberdeen Angus beef.

Head to The Silver Darling for seafood with a view and take your pick from a menu that includes North Sea haddock, sole goujons, and pan seared haddock. Or, grab some fish and chips from Bistro Verde and take a walk along the shoreline.

Want to try some locally sourced cuts of beef? Jack’s Grill and Angus & Ale will tick that box with their delectable menus.

Go dolphin spotting
If you want to do something a little different with your time, head down to Aberdeen’s harbour for a chance to spot some dolphins. The city’s harbour is one of the best places to see bottlenose dolphins because it’s a rich feeding ground for them (it’s not unusual to see anywhere between 20 and 50 dolphins during one visit).
Have a nip of whiskey
The locals call whiskey ‘the water of life’, and there are plenty of places across the city to try some.
CASC have over 500 Scotch whiskeys to sample, while The Tippling House offer tasting sessions for those who want to become experts. Freedom An’ Whiskey (named as a nod to Robert Burns) is a premium whiskey lounge in the city centre, the perfect choice if you like luxe surroundings, and The Illicit Still, which is hidden underground, is a history lesson and a bar rolled into one.
There’s so much to do in this beautiful Scottish city – you might want to come back for a couple more nights!
