Explore the Old Towns
Aberdeen has not one, but two old towns. The first is Old Aberdeen, home to a beautiful 15th century cathedral, ancient gothic bridges, fairytale-style gates and botanic gardens.
The other old town in Aberdeen is Footdee (pronounced ‘Fittie’ locally). A tiny historic fishing village, it’s known for its cobbled streets and wonderful higgledy-piggledy cottages.
Sample the local delicacies
You simply can’tvisit this Scottish port town without sampling the local delicacies: seafood and, of course, Aberdeen Angus beef.
Head to The Silver Darling for seafood with a view and take your pick from a menu that includes North Sea haddock, sole goujons, and pan seared haddock. Or, grab some fish and chips from Bistro Verde and take a walk along the shoreline.

Go dolphin spotting
If you want to do something a little different with your time, head down to Aberdeen’s harbour for a chance to spot some dolphins. The city’s harbour is one of the best places to see bottlenose dolphins because it’s a rich feeding ground for them (it’s not unusual to see anywhere between 20 and 50 dolphins during one visit).
Have a nip of whiskey
The locals call whiskey ‘the water of life’, and there are plenty of places across the city to try some.
