Since 2013, Lyon has organised an annual design, Lyon City Design, within its urban centre. The event promotes ideas about ecology, aesthetics and practicality to make living in a city a better experience. The ibis Styles hotels are located near the event. The event has an alternating schedule: in odd years it is Lyon City Design, but in even years it is Lyon City Design Arena. The aim is to have everyone work together to make la Ville des Lumières into a city of the future at the cutting edge of technology and to improve quality of life generally. A different district hosts it each year, depending on its involvement in the sustainable city project.
Ideally situated close to the city centre, the ibis Styles hotels are in easy reach of Lyon City Design’s many events. Exhibitions, conferences, trails and guided tours are organised in locations where development is firmly underway so you can discover spaces and buildings as they are coming into being.
