Stadhuisplein: all-round entertainment
Numerous bars and clubs are located on the Stadhuisplein where weeknights are also pleasantly crowded. The area is vibrant and perfect ground for a pub-crawl. Swing it out in the tropical Coconuts café, yodel along at the Après-skihut, or reminisce while dancing to hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s at club Get Back. There is truly something for everyone.
Concerts and Events in Ahoy
Rotterdam is home to one of the largest and most impressive event locations in The Netherlands: Ahoy. Huge party occasions are organised here as well as (inter)national performances by leading artists! Be sure to keep Ahoy’s program schedule in check for appealing events and concerts. Ahoy is easily accessible by car and public transport, great to combine with your city trip to Rotterdam.
Jazzy Rotterdam
Rotterdam also has plenty to offer jazz lovers. Firstly, the renowned North Sea Jazz festival is held here annually in June. Secondly, did you know that the oldest jazz café in The Netherlands is found in Rotterdam? Jazz café Dizzy on the ‘s-Gravendijkwal is a jazz centrepiece thanks to its many well-known visitors and seasoned guests. Another option is Bird, a club/restaurant with jazz at its essence but where innovative hip-hop, electronica and soul are welcome too.
Party on: Rotown and Maassilo
In the mood for an all-nighter? Then Rotown and Maasilo just outside of the city centre are perfect for you. Larger concerts are held here occasionally but you’ll sooner find parties with varying themes like techno, indie and 35+. Rotown is a prominent music venue and has been part of the scene since 1987. Weekly club nights are held on Thursdays and Saturdays. The Maassilo is a massive complex made up of old grain silos located in the Maashaven. It’s comprised of 6 different areas, each equipped with walls of reinforced concrete. In other words, zero hindrance and partying full out until the wee hours of the morning!
