Its 35,000 artworks make the Louvre one of the world’s biggest museums. Go there to admire collections which date from antiquity all the way to the 19th century. Notre-Dame cathedral is not too far away on a spit of land where the Seine splits in two. It stands majestic on the city’s island. Its intricate façade is characteristically Gothic, and its gargoyles and square towers are globally famous. You can even climb to the top of its towers to admire the rooftops of Paris, or you might like to discover remains of ancient Paris in its recently unearthed crypt.
