Music stars’ concerts and sport events at the Hallenstadion
A hint of innovation in Zürich’s parks
Located in the Oerlikon district, the Hallenstadion is the largest multi-purpose facility in Switzerland. Some of the most world-renowned singers have performed on its stage. Close by is the Zürich Oerlikon velodrome. Built in 1912, it is the oldest sports facility in Switzerland.
Take a peek into Fluntern cemetery and enjoy the peaceful and reverent silence that surrounds James Joyce’s final resting place. To find some quiet in the city, you can also explore the MFO Park - built on the former area of the engine factory "Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon", which gave the park its name. You’ll wonder at the "Park-Haus" - a monumental steel construction wrapped in a plant-covered trellis, recreating the silhouette of the factory’s former production hall.
