Discovering vibrant, innovative and bohemian Basel

Discovering vibrant, innovative and bohemian Basel

To awaken your senses
Located on the Messeplatz, Basel Congress Centre enjoys a central location in the city. It is close to the Exhibition Centre, which has no less than six exhibition halls and welcomes one million visitors every year. Two major events are hosted there: Art Basel, the largest and most prestigious contemporary art fair in Europe, and Baselworld fair, dedicated to watchmaking and jewellery. The Old Town, the shopping streets and the many museums and parks are within walking distance or a few minutes away by public transport. The architectural diversity of Basel, which combines typical half-timbered buildings, majestic mansions of the nineteenth century and contemporary architecture gives uniqueness to this city, between tradition and modernity. Do not forget to admire the two symbols of the city: the City Hall and the Protestant Cathedral of Basel Minster with their magnificent facades of red sandstone.
To enjoy the city in peace, take the ferry to cross the river or stop a moment in one of the many parks and gardens of Basel. For a refuel, try the Italian cuisine at restaurant Chez Donat and admire the works left there by former guests, as prestigious as Picasso. Finally, make a stop at "Läckerli Huus" to enjoy the traditional honey cakes.
